Privacy Policy

Acadion ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Acadion mobile application ("App"), an educational coaching platform for students of Class 9 and 10 in Assam, India.

Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the practices described herein.


1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information

We collect the following personal information when you register or use the App:

  • Full name, email address, and phone number

  • Profile photo (optional)

  • Class grade (9 or 10), board (CBSE/SEBA)

  • Google account details (via Google Sign-In)

1.2 Payment & Transaction Information

When you purchase a course through the App, payment is processed by Razorpay. We collect:

  • Transaction ID and Razorpay Payment ID

  • Course purchased, amount paid, and purchase timestamp

  • Payment status (success/failure)

We do NOT store your credit/debit card numbers, CVV, UPI PIN, or bank credentials. All payment data is handled securely by Razorpay in compliance with PCI-DSS standards.

1.3 Usage & Activity Data

  • Courses enrolled in and video watch progress

  • Mock test scores, responses, and results

  • Live class attendance

  • Chat messages with teachers

  • Doubts submitted and answers received

  • Notifications opened

  • App crash logs and performance data

1.4 Device Information

  • Device type, OS version, and unique device identifiers

  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token for push notifications

  • IP address and network type


2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected to:

  • Create and manage your student account

  • Process course purchases and verify payment completion

  • Provide access to purchased courses, videos, PDFs, and tests

  • Send push notifications for live classes, announcements, and test reminders

  • Enable real-time 1:1 chat between students and teachers

  • Display leaderboards and performance reports

  • Improve App performance and fix bugs

  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations


3. Razorpay Payment Processing

Razorpay is our authorized payment gateway partner. When you make a payment:

  • You are redirected to Razorpay's secure checkout environment

  • Razorpay collects and processes your payment credentials directly

  • We only receive a payment confirmation along with a transaction/payment ID

  • Razorpay's Privacy Policy governs their handling of your payment data

We store only the Razorpay Payment ID, course ID, amount, user ID, and purchase status in our Firebase Firestore database for record-keeping and access control.


4. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share data with:

  • Razorpay – for payment processing (as described above)

  • Firebase (Google) – for authentication, database, storage, and push notifications

  • Jitsi / Agora – for live class video streaming (room name and participant identity only)

  • Law enforcement – if required by applicable Indian law or court order

All third-party services are bound by their own privacy policies and data protection agreements.


5. Data Storage & Security

  • All user data is stored on Firebase infrastructure (Google Cloud) with encrypted connections

  • Payment records are stored in Firebase Firestore with restricted access rules

  • We implement role-based access controls so teachers and admins can only access data relevant to their function

  • We use HTTPS/TLS for all network communications

While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission is 100% secure. We encourage you to use strong passwords and not share your account credentials.


6. Children's Privacy

Acadion is designed for students aged 14 and above (Class 9 & 10). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If a parent or guardian believes their child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@acadion.in and we will promptly delete such data.


7. Your Rights

As a user, you have the right to:

  • Access and review the personal data we hold about you

  • Request correction of inaccurate data

  • Request deletion of your account and associated data

  • Opt out of promotional notifications (you can manage this in App settings)

8. Retention of Data

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Purchase records are retained for a minimum of 5 years for accounting and legal compliance. You may request account deletion at any time, after which your personal data will be removed within 30 days (except where retention is required by law).


9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via a push notification or an in-app banner. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
